Organisation:
Kaunas Union of Youth NGOs ‘Round Table’ is an association which currently brings together 41 youth or working with youth organizations. The aim of Union is to solve problems of youth by connecting and representing the most active youth organizations in Kaunas. ‘Round Table‘ organizes various events, seminars, training courses, actions that encourage young people to be active and achieve their goals.
Project:
Kaunas Union of Youth NGOs ‘Round Table‘ is planning to organize international youth meeting under the title ‘The Twin Cities’. The aim of this meeting is to call together the members of regional NGOs - youth leaders, youth representatives at authority institutions and youth protectors - to share the good case practices of their work in youth policy development. The project also seeks to encourage the exchange of good practice between young people and policy-makers in order to foster a better knowledge and understanding of youth and to create common vision of town-twinning. This meeting is designed as a process of informal learning and peer education using participants’ experiences in the fields of youth work and international cooperation. In order to be successful the participants will have to be active in preparing part, in sharing knowledge and experience and to be willing to learn new skills from each other.
The methods employed over the 6 working days of the seminar will include:
• Verbal and visual presentations (about organizations; good experiences/practices; youth policy of participating countries).
• Small group discussions (on topics from youth problems’ field).
• Plenary debates (with youth policy makers).
• Visiting organizations (municipality, national youth representative institution).
• Workshops (with the purpose to estimate challenges of youth and possibilities to solve them in different countries, to evaluate possible risks and chances, and to think about further cooperation).
• Other social activities.
Target group:
Members of youth non-governmental organizations, which focus on youth representation and youth policy forming (influence) in regional level, also youth policy makers. To have successful seminar, constructive and productive dialogues and for efficient practice of the project results, organizers invites participants from the similar working area.
There is no age limit. Gender equality must be held.
Fluency in English is a requirement.
At least five participants from each partner are expected.

22nd – 29th of July 2012, Kaunas, Lithuania.

Youth organizations with similar profile as Kaunas Union of Youth NGOs ‘Round Table’ coming from Germany, Estonia, France, Sweden, Poland, Finland, Denmark, Greece, Czech Republic, Italy (preferably from the partner towns of Kaunas city - list can be found here http://kaunas.lt/index.php?2800022226).
Financial aspects:
Accommodation and food for project participants will be provided. Travel expences will depend on what kind of transport means the partners will find to travel and how much it will cost.
