PROJECT PROPOSAL - CITIZENS FORUM GENDER EQUALITY IN THE EUROPEAN UNION
Europe for Citizens Programme 2007 - 2013
Measure 2.1. Citizens Project
1. Rationale
This project is based on the redefinition of gender equality policies in Europe and the need for compliance and implementation, according to measurements taken at the European Parliament resolution of 25 February 2010, specifically addressing our objectives and actions to Articles 13 and 18 of resolution:
13: “Encourages the European Institute for Gender Equality to promote knowledge sharing between member states in all areas covered under the Beijing Platform for Action through program of exchange of good practices on gender equality with a view to strengthening the implementation of the commitments set out in the platform”
18. “Recognizes that the integration of gender mainstreaming and specific actions to promote gender equality are complementary and need to strengthen the structures and methods and use them effectively at national and EU”
set forth the two measures on which we base this project set the following goals and content.
2. General Objective
Encouraging interaction between citizens and civil society organizations from all participating countries, contributing to intercultural dialogue and emphasis on diversity and European unity, and paying particular attention to efforts to establish closer ties between citizens of the Member States of the European Union as constituted on April 30, 2004 and Member States that have adhered to it since then.
3. Specific Objectives
3.1. Actively involved in policies and programs promoting gender equality to men and young men offering realistic opportunities.
3.2. Provide models that break the gender stereotypes of men and women
3.3. Promote knowledge sharing between Member States in all areas covered under the Beijing Platform for Action through the program of exchange of good practices on gender equality with a view to strengthening the implementation of the commitments set in the Platform.
4. Contents
• Masculinities in the European context.
• New models: social involvement of women and men towards a European society with equal opportunities.
• Public participation for the restructuring of the patriarchal roles
• Strengthening policies and measures for Beijing +15, to reality.
• Best practices from different professional sectors and social actors towards a Europe with a gender perspective.
5. Methodological approach
Education: regional workshops
Discussion Forums: attendance in each partner country and on – line
Citizenship Forum, coinciding with the celebration of March 8, 2012. Panel of Experts / as U.S., Panel Members Experience Exhibition of Regional Workshop Results, Recommendations to the European Commission and European Parliament
Networking: dissemination of materials and good practice. Exploitation of results
