Letter of intent
Europe for citizens Programme
Iaslovat village, with a total of 4040 people, belonging to the province of Bukovina, Suceava county, situated in the North-Eastern part of Romania, plans to develop a twinning program with other communities in the European Union and beyond. In this way we intend to develop a framework for collaboration, where people from different regions of Europe can meet and discuss diverse problems, exchange good practice examples and different ideas in any domain, express different points of view on any matter for which people show interest and concern. We propose to develop very specific projects in our region, such as water management, disaster prevention, economic development, culture and education and improved social services.
We believe that a good partnership can bring many benefits to both of the twinned communities. Nowadays, the bond between twinned comunities, helps create a sense of identity at European level. Furthermore , the fact that citizens get together to discuss and find solutions for difficult issues, in a friendly environment, is also a clear act of very active European citizenship. Such twinning , can create an ideal environment in which people can develop new techniques of cooperation, exchange of experience and common reflection on specific themes, which can help us find solutions and make improvements for the development of our communities and for the wellbeing of the inhabitants.
We think that the relationship between the twinned communities, needs to withstand the test of time and not just reflect the mood of a given day. Strong friendships and true links of solidarity between citizens of different communities, need time to develop. Only through the strength of the relationship, established and developed over the years, a community shows diversity in its rate of development.This is the relationship on which we can rely in the future.
Starting from the desire of being opened to new collaborative opportunities, we express our intention of twinning with your community, establishing a partnership for sustainable development and environmental protection, education, culture, farming and economic growth.
To implement this initiative we intend to access funds under the program "Europe for Citizens", Action 1 , Measure 1.1 — Town twinning citizens' meetings; submission date : September 1, 2012.
Therefore we expect your answer no later than July/25/2012.
