“Europe for Citizens” Project
Action 4: Active European Remembrance
1. Project title:
„Broken ties – common future” – an International Youth Conference
2. Subject area of the conference:
• modern European generation searching for references between contemporary events and the 20th century history
• drawing conclusions from the local aspect of Nazi and Stalinist crimes – their world-wide character and deep reflection over the changes which took place in Europe after WWII
• The European Union’s policy necessary to prevent the young generation from repeating faults of the past
2. Project holder:
The Marshall’s Office of the Swietokrzyskie Voivodship in Kielce
3. Time and place of the conference:
Kielce, second or third week of May 2012.
4. How the project will be executed:
The project shall involve school youth, students and voluntaries.
We intend to carry out following actions:
• announce a contest for students of all levels, organised by the Marshall’s Office and the Local Education Authority, in order to gather materials which would include description of historical places or events (tomb, monument, place of pacification, extermination or resettlement of the local people) and records of their actual witnesses
• commemorate the historical places with the help of youth and voluntaries
• prepare devices of communication in the form of:
- publication on the places of pacification, extermination and resettlement of the local people
- CDs/DVDs
- creating a website “ The Swietokrzyskie Voivodship Memorial places of the victims of Nazism and Stalinism”
