Eurohungaricum Foundation will submit a proposal for Citizenship Programme Action 2 Measure 3 - Support to projects initiated by civil society organisations.
The project aims at promoting the importance of the European Citizenship and the upcoming European Parliament Elections. During the project we will organize seminars/events/knowledge transfer where the target group will consist of people at age of 17-22 and 55+. The main reason for choosing these target groups is the results of statistics on previous European Parliament Elections. According to the datasheets on the participation by age only 29% of the voters were 18-24 years old, at the same time 50% of the voters were above 50 years old.
When the main reasons why people decided to go to vote were examined, only 5% of the voters said that they feel European and citizen of the EU and they are very interested in European affairs and that the EU plays an important role in their everyday life.
During the project (through seminars and conferences) we will make a platform where older people who are active citizens in the EU will present why it is important to play an active role in the European Union. We would like to give citizens the opportunity to interact and share their opinion about the European Union. We will prepare a study based on the reflections on the project and submit it to the European Parliament.
